Parent/Child Dedication

At Truth Community Church, we understand Child Dedication to be primarily Parent Dedication as parents testify of their commitment to God, each other, their entire family, and the church to raise their children to know about Jesus and His Gospel.

Presenting a child before the church is not a means to salvation, church membership, or any other spiritual decision made by the child. Truth Community Church does not teach or follow the practice of infant baptism but holds that baptism is only for believers. At TCC, we perform “parent/child” and not “baby” dedication because we believe the focus is on the parent’s commitment to dedicate their abilities to steward their children in the gospel. As parents present their children before the church, our commitment as a church is to put God’s grace on display and reinforce biblical, gospel-centered families.

Mark 10:13-14 says, “And they were bringing children to him that he might touch them, and the disciples rebuked them. But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the children come to me; do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God.” As we follow Christ, Truth Community Church desires to emulate His love for the children in our church. We understand the important role parents play in raising their children, and our role as a church is to encourage parents as they raise their children biblically (Ephesians 6:4). By dedicating parents and children before the Lord, our church makes a commitment to come alongside the parents encouraging them to guide their children biblically.
